The Hill Mountain Robots and Coffee Club
This morning was the first of a series of “Robots and Coffee” mornings at the Hill Mountain Scout and Community Hall. Through the DATRIS project, the Big Lottery Fund provided a Lego Mindstorms kit to complement an identical kit which had been bought by the 1st Johnston Scouts.
The aim of the morning is to encourage young people to use new technology in alternative ways. We had a lot of very keen robot builders; some young programmers and even two documentary makers who filmed the whole event and carried out interviews with some of the attendees (we aim to edit the footage at the next meeting and some of it may appear in this blog). The other aim is to reach out to families, giving the adults an opportunity to talk about IT, the Internet and mobile phones over a cup of coffee and a biscuit.
