St Fagans National Museum of History
The excavation of the chariot has finished and now work has moved on to the conservation stages. I was lucky enough to accompany a group of Pembrokeshire College students to the National Museum of History at St Fagans in Cardiff.
I’m afraid I can’t show film of the actual artefacts on here at the moment as it’s still all part of ongoing investigations by the National Museum and Cadw, but they are extremely interesting (that makes things worse, doesn’t it). We were lucky enough to have a tour of the St Fagans site along with two of the archaeologists involved in its upkeep and in creating exhibitions.
The DATRIS project is supporting the young people in documenting the process by which artefacts are added to the museum’s collection … from exploration to excavation then conservation and finally, exhibition.
